Meeting at the Tashkent branch of VGIK: new tasks and development plans

On December 10, 2024, a meeting was held in the Tashkent branch, which was chaired by the director of the branch I.M. Melikuziev. At the beginning of the meeting, he congratulated the staff on the Day of the Adoption of the National Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which is celebrated on December 10.
The following issues were discussed at the meeting:
- Preparation of videos dedicated to the holiday and their posting on social networks - the deans were instructed to organize this work;
- Additional professional education (APE);
- Monitoring student attendance;
- Resolving issues related to contract training;
- Developing cooperation between the international department and foreign branches;
- Reviewing the structure of the branch's employees.
Key steps for the further development of the branch were also outlined.
The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere and set the vector for the successful implementation of the goals!

The feature film “Magtymguly Pyragy” wins another international award



At the 2nd Turan International Film Festival, organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, TURKSOY – the International Organization of Turkic Culture, and Ege University, the feature film “Magtymguly Pyragy” was awarded first place in the “Best Uzbek Film” category.


The film was produced in collaboration between filmmakers from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, based on the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 19, 2024, “On the wide celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy.”


It is worth noting that this film, directed by Muzaffar Erkinov, also received the grand prize in the “Best Film” category at the 4th International Film Festival “Gorkut Ata,” held in November 2024 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

In accordance with the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-209 “On measures for the further development of cinematography and the creation of a series of films dedicated to the history of our country,” as well as based on the joint meeting minutes No. 65/1 of the National Commission for the Development and Support of Cinematography and the National Council for Promoting the Ideological and Artistic Quality of Films, a competition was held for film projects within the framework of the “Living History” program, and the winners were determined.


On April 29, 2025, a pitching session was held with the participation of 24 studios. According to Decision No. 2 of the National Council, the following 6 studios were selected as winners:


  1. Feature film “Horizons of Fate” — “ShB” LLC studio
  2. Feature film “Temurbeks’ School” — “Koʻzgu Film” LLC studio
  3. Docu-feature film “Shiroq” — “RAMZ-FILM” studio
  4. Docu-feature film “Fayzulla Khojaev” — “Uzbekfilm” JSC
  5. Docu-feature film “Usmon Nosir” — “Hope Film” LLC studio
  6. Docu-feature film “As High as the Pamir Mountains” — “Documentary and Chronicle Films Studio” JSC



In addition, due to insufficient votes in the pitching session, the following film projects will be subject to a RE-PITCHING:


  1. Feature film “Erkin Vohidov”
  2. Docu-feature film “Madaminbek”
  3. Docu-feature film “The Courage of Navoi Scholars”





Reminder: From April 30 to May 30 of this year, the Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan is announcing a competition among film studios and companies for the production of 15 projects included in the “Living History” program.

In accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-209 “On measures to further develop cinematography and to create a series of films dedicated to the history of our country”, and based on the Regulation on holding a competition for the production of films included in the “Living History” program—approved by the joint decision of the National Commission for the Development and Support of Cinematography and the National Council for Supporting the Ideological and Artistic Level of Films (Protocol No. 65/1)—the following 15 (fifteen) film projects were selected as winners of the synopsis competition held from January 15 to February 15, 2025:
