Throughout 2024, the Cinematography Agency, in cooperation with the Agency for the Development of Public Service, conducted competitive selections for vacant positions in the Central Office. As a result, 10 candidates were hired for 18 available positions.


In 2025, six candidates successfully passed the selection process and signed employment contracts.


Currently, competitive selection procedures are ongoing for two vacant positions in the Central Office.


The selection process is conducted openly and transparently to attract qualified specialists and contribute to the development of the cinematography sector.

Meeting Held with Youth Learning Uzbek in Tokyo



As part of the international scientific forum taking place in Tokyo in honor of the 150th anniversary of Mahmudkhuja Behbudi, a meeting was held with students of the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.


During the meeting, participants exchanged views on Uzbek Jadidism, the legacy of Mahmudkhuja Behbudi, contemporary Uzbek cinematography, and cultural relations between the two countries.


At the end of the meeting, a screening of the artistic and journalistic film Mahmudkhuja Behbudi was held. The film was met with great interest by the audience and sparked meaningful discussions among students and experts.

Cooperation Between Film Archivists of Uzbekistan and Russia



With the support of the Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a creative visit was organized from April 15 to 18, 2025, by Sherzod Norov, Director of the “Uzbekistan National Film Fund” State Enterprise, and responsible specialist Husan Yusupov to Gosfilmofond, located in the Moscow region, for the purpose of experience exchange.


During the visit, the Uzbek delegation exchanged knowledge on how film reels are stored at Gosfilmofond, the processes of film restoration, and essential skills related to film preservation. Important aspects of archival work were studied and adopted.


The “Uzbekistan National Film Fund” looks forward to the continued cooperation.

An International Scientific Seminar Dedicated to the 150th Anniversary of Mahmudkhuja Behbudi is Being Held in Tokyo

From April 14 to 21 of this year, an international scientific seminar is being held in Tokyo, Japan, in honor of the 150th anniversary of Mahmudkhuja Behbudi, a prominent figure of the Jadid movement.


The seminar is aimed at the in-depth study and promotion of the reformist movement and the Jadid legacy in Central Asia. The Director of the Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shuhrat Rizayev, is also participating in the event.


Today, as part of the scientific forum, a screening of the artistic and journalistic film “Mahmudkhuja Behbudi” took place.


In addition, during the visit, discussions are planned regarding the premiere of the film “The Invincible: The Road to Tokyo,” which is being co-produced with Japanese filmmakers. Plans also include cooperation on the production of the feature film “The Scent of Sakura,” which is part of the “Living History” program.
